And here we are, under the 8 week mark - if you count June 3 as our due date (or in yoga, we call it our guess date). In our birth class, she told us to "change" our due date to 7 days later to set mental expectations.....so, our "new" date is June 10.
Time has definitely slowed down for me, and these last couple weeks have passed by at a tortoise's pace. Feeling good, but carrying an extra 20+ pounds in your front section still takes its toll.
We were able to sneak in one more unexpected trip before baby - the Final Four! Wisconsin returned for the second year in a row. We had looked into tickets, but decided against it because of the high cost. On the Wednesday night before the games, a friend called with extra tickets. It was a sign! So we graciously accepted, hopped in the car, drove to Indy, and had the weekend of a lifetime. Saturday night was incredible. Even though it wasn't the outcome we wanted on Monday night at the Final, it was still a weekend we will never forget (and a birthday Tim will never forget). And by the end, all the fellow Badgers around us had given baby girl names like Francine (Frank Kaminsky), Nigella (Nigel Hayes), and Samantha (for Sam Dekker).
Baby girl does have a name, and it suits her very well. I use it often with her, and we've tested all possibilities with it. I've caught myself almost revealing it several times with my mum and some friends....but not yet! We are keeping it a secret until she arrives.
How far along? 33 weeks (picture is from last week - shirt and skirt are from StitchFix!)
Baby's size? a pineapple, about 4 pounds and 17 inches long
Weight gain? 22 lbs
Belly button in or out? Neither - it's flat!
Wedding rings on or off? On
Sleep? Not so great. Lots of waking up to use the bathroom, and then having a hard time turning off the brain to get back to sleep.
Best moment of the week? I'm actually really enjoying our birthing class. Our teacher, Ruby, is amazing. She makes me feel empowered to take on labor, and also teaches along the lines of Ina May Gaskin, a US midwife whose book I read (highly recommend).
Miss anything? Margaritas. Delicious margaritas.
Looking forward to? Our house being finished! We've spent the last year updating all the wood in the house from oak to white, including brand new baseboards throughout the entire house. Tim is almost finished with the last room. It looks beautiful, and he has worked so hard.
Movement? Her head is at my ribs, and then she kicks me frequently out my right side. My stomach looks distorted most of the time, honestly. Not a round belly :) Hoping that she flips naturally in the coming weeks.
Food cravings? Craving more salad-type food and smoothies. Cottage cheese and fruit is a favorite snack. For a special treat, chocolate-banana shakes at Michael's are the new favorite.
Anything making you sick or queasy? Still chicken. Yuck.
Exercise? Stopped running at 28 weeks. Daily walks with the puppy are in order, and doing some prenatal strength videos that I've found. Trying to keep up with modified work outs like push ups on my knees now instead of feet. Trying to do yoga a couple times a week. I got Tim a Fitbit for his birthday, and the day of the Championship in Indianapolis, we clocked 8 miles. So, still able to do that, but I was super sore the next day.
Symptoms? My stuffy nose has increased, and hands will swell slightly from time to time. Usually means I'm dehydrated though. I'm feeling good in the aches and pains area - not much to report on there. I just get tired more quickly, and will lose my breath faster than I used to.
Labor signs? Nope!
